My First Bangkok 2012

My First Love...

Big Breakfast at McDonald...6.30am..haha...
2012 June 12th, It was the happiest time of my life....I travelled with hubby and daughter just the 3 of us ...I think the first time just the 3 of us?  And we landed Bangkok at 9.30 am and we were amazed with the beautiful airport...My daughter said.."wah...mummy so big the airport..so nice....I want to stand on that moving floor ok?" So cute..

I am only visiting for 4 days 3 nights and I regretted.  I should have stayed more days..I used to feel Bangkok is unsafe and not a great place to visit after all the riot news on tv and internet and plus my sister told me it's a bad place to visit....not nice and dirty and bla bla bla.. since she just visited months ago.....However, despite all her bad comments, I took out my guts and decided to visit.. (many of my clients love Bangkok)... I have gotten free air tickets hahaha (shhhh secret)...

Before the vacations; I browsed internet everyday to plan further where I should bring my hubby and girl to...I love to plan myself because from there I read more..and I saved alot from buying tours..and time is really free and easy.. Since we have only 3 nights there, I need to plan better....

Taking BTS to Ratchadewi where our hotel located..

Many angmoh...

We checked in at 11 am but room was not ready until 2 pm so we left our luggages and walked to MBK, a 10 min walking distance..I knew as I have done my homework..haha...

Near MBK BUilding..cute..

MBK

We were hunting for food in MBK and found that the locations of the restaurants in the mall were really confusing..the food centres were scattered around...and we were too tired in the end to find what we wanted..so we end up having Ramen...forgot the restaurant name..Too tired that we just ordered..Food were not bad at all..One bowl of ramen costed RM 6.90.

Ramen Menu

Beef

Dumplings..but so so nice..

Our vacation...Baby enjoyed ramen..as usual..

Our first local delicacy..Coconut Treat..RM 1.50...selling on the street... weird food but  we tried for the thrill of it...

It tasted like cendol in hot coconut... nice..but not used to the taste haha...

After MBK, around 4pm we went back to hotel..and saw our gorgeous superb room! With only RM 200 nett per night..we enjoyed all of these luxury...what a life!! Bangkok you are so cool!!! hahaa..I was unsure which hotel to stay in the first place..After many consideration, I made the right choice..Evergreen Place Bangkok!  Look at the below BTS Station..from airport..we took Airport Rail to Phaya Thai..and from Phaya Thai we took  only 1 station to Ratchthewi..and walked easily to the hotel...from the green line...All shopping mall are just few station away...I did not plan for Chatuchak Market as we went weekdays...

Evergreen Place is  3 minutes walk from BTS Ratchthewi..

our hotel Evergreen Place ..nice studio apartment...RM 200nett per night for 3..with breakfast..perfect!

We took our bath...and had our sleep and rest for tonight Calypso Caberet Show...that I booked online few days ago..for our first "AGUA" show...Waking up from our beauty sleep, we called for room service ..first order..GREEN CURRY!!! OMG ! everything tasted great..we had our nice dinner before our show at 8.15pm...

Nice food..from the hotel..enjoyed them in our room...amazing!

Our favourite GREEN CURRY!!..we had them everyday...since DAY 1....

Around 7.50 pm we walked to Asia Hotel which is just 2 minutes away for Calypso Show (start at 8.15pm and finished around 9.30pm)  located inside Asia Hotel....If you stayed in other hotel..you can travelled and stop at Ratchadewi BTS and walked straight into Asia Hotel thru their walkway...We saw tourist all over the world..Korean, Japanese..Singaporean and lots more...

Calypso Show at Asia Hotel, next to our apartment..Walking distance..2 minutes walk..lovely!!! Heard they will move to new location by next year..do check where before going ya...

It is really worth a watch if you visit Bangkok..They are all very talented people..the unique thing about them is that they are ladyboy..but I can feel that they really perform with all their heart and soul...
Some of the entertainment..really enjoyed it!!

The show finished around 9.30pm and since we had a nap just now..we decided to go to Yaowarat-CHinaTown for night snack...This time we used TUK TUK RM 10 ..so fun..about 10-15 minutes away..My girl loved the ride..

Great breakfast..nice...and wide choice for the RM 200 per night rate for 3...
Baby eat for free..hahah....

Nice cafe...

Swimming!!

happy!
After swimming...we readied for outdoor adventure...We walked to MBK direction..and found out that; on our right there was a small river station written thai language..Clueless about it..we waited there with a guy...see the pic below..and would like to take the boat and see where it would bring us..(as I have promised my girl to bring her for boat ride)...

**On the way to the boat station..We were nearly cheated by a stranger on the roadside..I need to share this...I am not angry at all but I felt it was a funny incident....I was walking to the MBK and  boat station direction when a man approached us friendly saying he worked at Evergreen Place (he did not looked like one of them)..and told us that MBK was closed as the Queen will be visiting MBK later on...and told me to take Tuk Tuk ride that his friend parked nearby.. I nearly believed him..and suddenly something stroked my mind as I ever read in Tripadvisor that this was a scam ever happened to tourists..so I quickly left and ignored him (telling my clueless hubby to just walk off and explained later on to him) ..and walked directly to the boat station...So guys..just be careful with strangers who approached...

Boat taxi...at Ratchadewi..on the right of 7 Eleven near our hotel..The  boat taxi is just at 3 mins walk...
Happily and curiously...paid 12 baht for the ride..which is only RM 1.20 per person..baby free again hahaha...

The next day we head to Siam Paragon around 12 some....and we planned for SnowWhite and the Huntsman...at 3.10pm..wow..expensive movie..but for the experience we went for it...So before the movie..we went hunting for food...again...

super huge coca-cola...OMG

See how big this is...

The culture shock we had in Bangkok was during our movie time in Siam Paragon Cineplex..Before the movie started...there were a long play of advertisements...and all in the sudden..everyone in the cinema..in the dark some more..stood up for their national anthem...I was curious..and I quickly stood up and giving signal to hubby and daughter to stand up too...I guessed that was for the respect to the King and Queen...cool...

After the movie...we went to Thonglor for another street food adventure...KUEH CHAP..but white color soup full of pepper (malaysian kueh chap is black soup)...actually Thonglor street food was not as attractive as at Chinatown...But if you want late night Mango sticky rice..they did sell here..but not as tasty as Siam Paragon food court one..

After Nana.. we went back to hotel and rest..packing for tomorrow flight back..

Roadside Kalamasi juice..
We will come back definitely...Bangkok is just like a heaven to us...Cheap and good....Cool culture and definitely a great place to visit..Just that you need to becareful with Tuk Tuk drivers that charged high on the ride and strangers who approached...Other than that...Bangkok is a very safe place..with friendly people!!

Time to go home...Thank you Airasia for the cheap airtickets..without you..we go no where..

At Suvarnabhumi Airport...we will ccme back...

Love
Jac
